Don’t Quit

Some mysterious urge has compelled me to share this pep talk in the form of a poem with you today. Perhaps someone reading this post is feeling low and will take heart from it. Maybe I need a boost myself. Maybe we all do. As we read on, let’s bow our heads in gentle gratitude to Anonymous, whoever he or she may be. What a sea of compassion the pen that wrote this was dipped in:

You Mustn’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest! If you must — but never quit.
Life is queer, with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might of won if he’d stuck it out;
Stick to your task, though the pace seems slow —
You may succeed with one more blow.

Success is failure turned inside out —
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt —
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit —
It’s when things seem worse that YOU MUSTN’T QUIT.

Bravo, Anonymous! Inspired and inspirited, may we all write on!
