Staying Power

Right now, I’m wrestling with yet another revision of my children’s fantasy. It’s challenging, but I’m pushing my story forward, page by page. To keep going, I’m in need of a generous dose of persistence. I’m guessing the same may be true for you. To keep us all on track, some words of wisdom on that most precious of qualities—staying power:

Winston Churchill

“Energy and persistence conquer all things.”
Benjamin Franklin

“The pain of discipline weighs ounces; the pain of regret weighs tons.”
Rob Gilbert

“I never try quitting and I never quit trying.”
Dolly Parton

“I hated every minute of training, but I said to myself, “Don’t quit, suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.”
Muhammad Ali

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength or a lack of knowledge but rather a lack of will.”
Vince Lombardi

“There are many hard things in life. There is only one sad thing – giving up.”

“Gold medals are not made of gold. They’re made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.”

Jimmy Johnson

“Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal. My strength lies
solely in my tenacity.”

“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”
