“This Day”

When I happened upon this Sanskrit proverb this morning — one which many of us have seen before — it really spoke to me. I hope it speaks to you as well.

Look to this day,

For it is life.

The very life of life.

In its brief course lie all

The realities and verities of existence.

The bliss of growth.

The splendor of action.

The glory of power —

For yesterday is but a dream,

And tomorrow is only a vision,

But today, well-lived,

Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness

A every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day.

What a wonderful reminder that today — this day — is full of promise. It holds the “bliss of growth” and the “splendor of action.” Let’s remember all the power this day holds as we all write on!
