“Greatest Power”

“The greatest power we have is the power of choice. It’s an actual fact that if you’ve been moping in unhappiness, you can choose to be joyous instead and, by effort, lift yourself into joy. If you tend to be fearful, you can overcome that misery by choosing to have courage. Even in darkest grief you have a choice.

“The whole trend and quality of anyone’s life is determined in the long run by the choices that are made.” Norman Vincent Peale

Wonderful, isn’t it, to think that the power of choice is the greatest power we have? Whether you believe it to be true of not, why not act as if it is? Why not give yourself the gift of choice as your greatest power?

Consider how liberating this is! At any moment, we have the power to choose the steps we take on our path to the writing life.

We can choose to see our drive to express ourselves as a precious gift.

We can choose to be grateful for the time and energy we have to create.

We can choose to see mistakes or failures as feedback that fuels us.

We can choose to see rejections we face as blips on the radar screen.

And we can choose to be joyful on our journey to share our stories.

Only think of all the choices we have ahead of us today! We can choose the mood we bring to the page. We can choose to see revision as the opportunity to “re-envision” our work and push it to another level. We can choose to see any obstacles or rejection we encounter as stepping stones to success and the exciting future we are writing our way to.

Choice — what power it holds for us as we all write on!
