Hixson Award

Peter K. Hixson (1947-2007) was a much-beloved client of Writer’s Relief, a submission advisory service. With funding from Peter’s estate and contributions from family, Writer’s Relief offers an annual Peter K. Hixson Memorial Award for Creative Writers.

This award is for writers who may not be widely published but who demonstrate exceptional technique, voice, and perspective. Writers with financial or other need are especially encouraged to apply!

The 2023 award will be presented to two writers: one poet and one short story writer. There is no cash award. Each winner will receive over $2,000 in Writer’s Relief submission services free of charge.
