As we launch into a new year, a lovely poem to light our way:
Barter
by Sara Teasdale
Life has loveliness to sell,
All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fire that sways and sings
And children’s faces looking up
Holding wonder like a cup.
Life has loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of gold,
Scent of pine trees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit’s still delight,
Holy thoughts that star the night.
Spend all you have for loveliness,
Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of peace
Count many a year of strife well lost.
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
Wishing your and yours a new year of peace, joy, and prosperity — write on!
2020 Vision
Bing Chang – 1/1/2020
2020: A year of clear vision?
A year of election or eviction?
A year of continued deception?
A year of inspired realization?
A year of economic expansion?
A year of bubble illusion?
A year of unending scholarly division?
A year of my forever exploration?
A year of lingering confusion
A year of my enlightened conviction?
A year of tormenting confrontation?
A year of relationship reconciliation?
A year of a peaceful solution?
2020: May God grace a year of revelation!
Happy and healthy New Year to you!
Hi Bing,
Thank yo so much for this lovely and inspiring poem! May I share it in a KWD feature?
Write on,
Karin
