Wow! I’ve never really thought about time in quite this way, have you?

Surely, there’s food for thought here for us all as creatives.

First, we all are given exactly the same amount in our time bank. Homer, Shakespeare, George Saunders—kings or queens or creative writers—we have all been equally endowed.

Second, with every new day, our bank account is full of hope and promise. No matter what happened yesterday, our account is full.

And third, we can make time work for us by being in the flow. When we experience those moments of intense creativity, time becomes elastic, stretching this way or that to accommodate whatever we’re doing. Or it seems to stand still—hours fly away or a minute seems like an hour. How lucky we are to experience these precious moments in our work!

Let’s go for the flow! Let’s use our bank of time wisely—to create something wonderful today as we all write on!
